PRETENDAZ(pronounced “pretend-as”) – The Ultimate Pretenders Tribute + Best of the 80s

PRETENDAZ is Arizona’s premier Pretenders tribute, offering two electrifying live experiences: a full concert tribute to the Pretenders or a high-energy blend of Pretenders classics and iconic ’80s dance hits.

Fronted by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Marty Novak, PRETENDAZ delivers an electrifying homage to Chrissie Hynde and her legendary band. This female-fronted rock powerhouse recreates the iconic sound and style of the Pretenders while adding a dash of high-energy 80s and 90s rock, featuring hits from artists like Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, and more.

Formed in mid-2025, PRETENDAZ is made up of seasoned professionals Marty Novak, Tom O'Shea, Robert Feeney, and Adrian Rupp, all of whom bring extensive experience from other working bands. Marty leads with vocals uncannily reminiscent of Chrissie Hynde, while also showcasing her dynamic skills on guitar, harmonica, and keyboards.

Together, the band delivers a tight, high-energy performance that captures the spirit, power, and charisma of the original Pretenders. Every show keeps audiences singing, dancing, and buzzing long after the final chord.
