      About Funky Bonz

Funky Bonz, the reigning kings of all things rhythm, celebrate more than two decades of funk fury and silky riddims with Buried Bonz - A Recorded History Volume One, a disc of some of the Tucson-based act’s best recordings. From the groove workouts of “You Don’t Know Jack” and “Brother Funk” to the straight-up raw nastiness of “Stripper Poles” and “Sexy Little Nun,” nearly everything you want is exhumed on Buried Bonz, making it essential if you missed these tracks the first time around.

Funky Bonz, led by singer Brent Kort, came together in Tucson, Arizona in 1992, shortly before beginning a tour of the American Southwest and nearby regions -- a tour that still shows no signs of winding down. Perfecting a signature twist on the three R’s of Roots, Rock, Reggae (with a little uptempo ska showing up occasionally), Funky Bonz immediately endeared itself to an audience as broad and diverse as the band’s music. They have remained a consistent favorite with audiences over the past 23 years, routinely hand-picked as openers for hard-hitting touring acts like George Clinton, Funkadelic/Parliament, Bootsy

Collins, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Fishbone, Weapon Of Choice, Awolnation, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Dread Zeppelin, Ozomatli and numerous others. The bottom line of Funky Bonz is that they don’t follow trends, so they don’t fall out of favor, and their universal sound lends them an indelible cross-generational appeal!
